"Stages of Garlic Plant Growth"
The garlic plant goes through several stages of growth. It starts with planting individual cloves in well-drained soil. The cloves sprout green shoots, forming a rosette of leaves. During this vegetative stage, the plant focuses on leaf growth. As it matures, garlic develops a central flower stalk, called a scape, which can be harvested or left to produce flowers. Eventually, the plant's energy shifts to bulb formation underground. The bulbs grow and thicken until the leaves begin to yellow and wither, signaling that the garlic is ready for harvest. Proper curing and drying follow to prepare the garlic for storage.
